Wiko gives in to HarmonyOS with a smartphone that we have already seen

Wiko has announced that it will launch a smartphone in China running HarmonyOS on December 27. A model that has therefore adopted the operating system developed by Huawei, which has great ambitions for its OS. Moreover, this Wiko phone makes us think of another model, since it takes up the main elements of the Huawei Nova 9 SE.

Last July, Huawei presented with great fanfare HarmonyOS 3, the latest version of its operating system with the arrival of new features. An OS that aims to be used on all devices: smartphones, tablets, PCs, televisions, etc. Enough to position itself as a competitor to Google, which is developing the same initiative on its side, Fuschia.

If until now, only Huawei products were compatible, Wiko is preparing to launch a smartphone equipped with HarmonyOS. However, it is above all a Huawei smartphone whose brand has been retained by that of Wiko.

HarmonyOS arrives in a Wiko smartphone that we already know

If we know Wiko as a French brand specializing in entry-level phones, the entity is in fact owned by a Chinese industrialist, Tinno, which owns several other brands in Europe.

The model presented is not really a new one since the design is similar to that of the Huawei Nova 9 SE. Aside from the back cover, it’s the same phone, but it does upgrade to 5G. For the photo, the two cameras represent what the Huawei Nova 9 and Nova 10 had done, with a golden outline around them.

It’s a 108MP photo sensor with an f/1.9 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle with an f/2.2 aperture. There is also a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. As for the selfie camera, it is a 16MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.

On the screen side, there is a 6.78-inch LCD panel with FHD + definition and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. This new Wiko smartphone can be recharged at a maximum of 66 W and a storage capacity of 256 GB. Everything suggests that Huawei has partnered with Wiko for the marketing of this model, but also to insert its operating system.

A trip to France? It’s not planned

Although Wiko remained in the top 5 smartphone sellers in France last year, there is no indication that this model will be released in France. For the moment, only a launch date has been announced, the technical sheet is not yet complete and we do not know its price.

Furthermore, in an interview with Frandroid, the president of Huawei for Western Europe had confirmed to us that HarmonyOS was not planned for Europe. There is no risk of hearing about this operating system here, the Western market depending more on Google or Apple.
