Ukraine: debate on a new media law

For Dmitro Krivocheïev, Olga Limar and Denis Davidenko, members of the group of state and non-state organizations Reanimation Package of Reforms, committed to promoting reforms in different areas of public life in Ukraine, the new law on the media is a step in the EU leadership, as they write in Ukraïnska Pravda:

“In a way, the restriction of the influence of the oligarchs is partly dependent on the recommendation of the European Commission, the adoption of a media law which brings Ukrainian legislation governing audiovisual media services into line with European directives. … The new law particularly strengthens the powers of the media supervisory authority, the National Audiovisual Council.”
