And it is thanks to Facebook that CAF was able to unmask the scammer. The one who had declared living alone, actually sharing her life with a 45-year-old man. And it is thanks to social network that the organization has been able to verify.
Indeed, the CAF conducted its small investigation. Very active on social networks, the lady betrayed herself. The social assistance organization was thus able to see that she was in a relationship with another person. In addition, his newsfeed confirmed that she had made a false statement.
The lady in question was therefore arrested. She also admitted that she had scammed CAF for several years. and his companion also admitted to having participated in this scam.
What is she risking?
This lady, who lied to CAF, was caught red-handed. After taking advantage of social assistance for 4 years, the organization discovered that she had made false statements.
Arrested, the couple immediately confessed to the scam. In court, the two lovers will explain that they had many financial difficulties. Thus, the aid of the CAF allow them to live well.
Although the court recognizes their difficult financial situation, this does not justify their action. Thus, the investigating judge forced them to pay 1,500 euros each. But that’s not all. The couple will also have to repay everything he received as help during the 4 years.
Betrayed by their posts on Facebook, they must now repay the sum of 25,122 euros! Just that. A fine punishment for these scammers who have taken advantage of CAF for years.
This is not the first time that people have taken advantage of social assistance. Last October, a “separated” couple were convicted of CAF fraud because they still lived under the same roof!
