Tesla is opening orders in France for the entry-level version of its Model Y. After the Long Autonomy and Performance version, all that was missing was the Model Y Propulsion for the range to be complete.
The configurator of the Tesla France site has just been updated on August 26, 2022 to allow ordering of the Model Y Propulsion. This affordable version of the Model Y is particularly awaited by customers.
After the Model 3 Propulsion, which boosted Tesla’s sales, it’s the turn of the Model Y Propulsion to shake up the electric SUV market. With a sale price, for the moment, quite attractive, this is bad news for some competitors.
Less than €50,000 for the Model Y Propulsion
While the Tesla Model 3 Propulsion is currently on sale at €53,490, we did not expect to see the Model Y propulsion appear at €49,990. It can even benefit from the ecological bonus of €2,000, which brings its starting price down to €47,990 without the options.
If you are interested in this model in this version, the price seems quite well placed in the current context. It is difficult to predict whether, in the coming months, its price will align with the Model 3 (upward trend in prices) or whether the entire Tesla range will once again benefit from an overall reduction. It may already be time to give yourself your Christmas present.
The first deliveries of the Model Y Propulsion will take place in December. Deliveries are in any case estimated between December 2022 and February 2023, according to the information currently communicated by the brand. The order book could fill up quickly and lead times could lengthen.
The first Model Y Propulsion will come from the Tesla factory in Shanghai. This is probably the element that surprised us the most after its price. We relied on more local production at the Gigafactory in Berlin. It is not impossible that this will be the case a little later in the year.
What equipment for this Model Y Propulsion?
As its name suggests, this Model Y has only one powertrain which offers a range of up to 455 km wltp with the 19 inch rims. The optional 20-inch rims lower the range to 430 km. The Model Y has reached a charging power of 170 kW on Supercharger type fast terminals, which allows you to travel on long journeys without constraint.
For comparison, this more affordable version has a 0 to 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds against 5.0 seconds for the Long Range version. This isn’t the build to go with if you’re looking for jaw-dropping performance.
The Model Y comes with standard Autopilot, the “premium” interior (including heated seats in all positions and heated steering wheel), and the premium audio system. It offers interior features similar to the Model Y Grande Autonomie.
