The Lucid Air Sapphire atomizes the Tesla Model S Plaid and Chiron Pur Sport

The Tesla Model S Plaid is a major enemy, also from the United States, and 100% electric.

We dreamed of seeing a duel between the two electric sports cars of the moment, namely the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire. A third model, thermal this time, lined up on the starting line. This is the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, a hypercar powered by the W16 8.0 liter quad-turbo 1500 hp engine.

That day has arrived! In this rather exceptional video, Elon Musk’s sedan faces two major opponents. If the Tesla develops 1020 hp, its electric competitor produces 1216 hp thanks to its three electric motors. Officially, the Model S Plaid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds, while the Lucid Air Sapphire can reach this speed in less than 2 seconds.

And the numbers don’t lie, since from the start, the Lucid takes the lead without ever being caught up. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport takes a little longer to take off, but once in orbit, it can catch up and just overtake the Tesla before the finish line 400m away. It is clear that if the track were a little longer, the Bugatti would easily overtake the Tesla and catch up with the Lucid a few meters further.

According to data recorded by Hagerty, the Lucid Air Sapphire covers the 400 m start-stop in 9.1 seconds. Then come the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport and Tesla Model S Plaid in 9.3 seconds, then the Lucid Air Dream Edition in 9.9 seconds, the Porsche 911 GT3 in 10.9 seconds, the Porsche Carrera GT in 11.2 seconds, etc

Beyond performance, the Lucid as well as the Tesla are surprisingly priced. Indeed, if the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is limited and sold for several million euros, the Model S Plaid “only costs” 138,990 euros in France. The Lucid Air Sapphire is billed at 249,000 dollars in the USA, it is not yet available in France.
