As the end of the year is fast approaching, a new generation of smartphones awaits us from the start of 2023. Like every year, Samsung should be one of the first to draw with its new range, the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

While the three smartphones were not to be presented before February, new information is beginning to emerge, in particular about the photo and video performance of the Samsung Galaxy S23.

In a tweet posted on Friday, December 9, the leak Ice Universe, generally knowledgeable about Samsung smartphones, took a look at the video features of the Samsung Galaxy S23.

According to his information, the Samsung smartphone will be able to shoot videos in 8K with a frame rate of 30 FPS. A slight increase in performance compared to the Galaxy S22 whose video mode was still limited to shooting in 8K at 24 FPS. Concretely, this new capacity could represent a power gain of 25%, since the next generation of Samsung smartphones could thus capture 25% more images per second, in an identical definition.

Remember, however, that the difference between 24 and 30 FPS will particularly speak to video editors. Indeed, the frame rate of 24p is traditionally that of the cinema. 30p is historically linked to televisions, especially in the United States, and to the NTSC broadcasting standard. It is this rate that will require the speeds that we are now used to encountering on televisions and on the Internet, whether it is 60p or 120p.

More detailed shots on the Galaxy S23 Ultra

In addition to these video features, the “Ultra” version of the Galaxy S23 could also benefit from better photo performance, as indicated by the leaker in a second tweet : “Compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the S23 Ultra’s daytime photos are clearer, with better detail and higher saturation“, he says.

According to the latest rumors, the Galaxy S23 should be announced next February. Remember that the Galaxy S22 range was presented on February 9, 2022. However, it is not excluded that Samsung will slightly advance its announcement to unveil the smartphones during the month of January.
