In your professional or personal life, you’ve probably used Google Calendar to schedule meetings or other events. Be aware that moving to your event in Google Calendar can be considered an event in its own right. To keep things running smoothly, you need to make sure you have enough time to get to your event. To do this, you need to add travel time to your agenda. In this way, you avoid programming other events during the travel time to a given event. Here’s how to add travel time to your Google Calendar event.
Google Calendar event: comment and add a travel time
Nothing could be simpler, you just have to use Google Calendar in your browser. So you go create a separate event in your calendar. You will put in it the time you deem necessary to arrive at your destination from a specified place.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Use the Google Maps preview in the sidebar,
- If it is hidden, select the arrow at the bottom right. This will display the side panel,
- You will now create the event. Add the place in the corresponding field, then click on the map icon on the right.
- Once the invitation is received, you need to select the location from the event pop-up window. It is on the main calendar page. You can also select the map icon. For that, have a look at the venue on the event detail page.
- Then select “Itinerary” from the sidebar. In the field that appears, enter your starting point.
- Finally, you must choose the route to follow to get to the place of the event in the event that several options are available.
- All you have to do is click on “Add to calendar” and you’re done!
Once all these steps have been completed, you will see a new event appear in your calendar. It contains this route with the time you need to leave to get there.
Google Calendar event: adjust your availability
To mark yourself as busy being for the travel event:
- Open the travel event popup then click the “pencil” icon to edit,
- Then choose “Busy” from the drop-down list on the left, bottom, above the description,
- Select “Save” at the top.
And it’s done ! People will know that you are busy right now.
