We had heard several rumors regarding the launch of the Galaxy S23 series at the beginning of February. Although some rumors indicated a launch date of February 8, the new tweet from the famous leaker indicates that Samsung reportedly plans to hold an official Unpacked event on February 1, a week earlier than planned.
The event will finally unveil the most anticipated Android flagship smartphone of 2023: the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as well as the two more affordable versions, the Galaxy S23+ and the standard Galaxy S23.
As a reminder, Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series on February 9, 2022. According to the latest reports, the event will take place in San Francisco. Samsung normally holds a public event and releases the product on “Friday in two weeks”, so the Galaxy S23 series is expected to go on sale on February 17, 2023.

New Galaxy S23 Features
According to rumors and test results of landmarks, the Galaxy S23 series will use a faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, with a clock frequency of up to 3.36 GHz, compared to 3.2 GHz for the standard version. According to reports, the company does not plan to launch an Exynos version of the smartphone, so all markets are expected to receive the Snapdragon chip.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra (SM-S9180) was even certified in China, two months before the 200-megapixel main camera and other smartphone specs were revealed. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ should keep their 50-megapixel camera. They should run Android 13 with OneUI 5.
Expect to see a bunch of other smaller improvements too: a newer OLED display with even better colors, improvements to the S Pen, and despite the moderate battery size, we’re expecting slightly longer battery life thanks the energy efficiency gains of the chip and the screen.
A price increase
Samsung usually confirms the launch date two weeks before the event, so we’ll have to wait until January 18 for the official confirmation.
Currently, rumors aren’t causing a price hike, meaning the base Galaxy S23 Ultra model will start at $1,200, the Galaxy S23+ model will start at $1,000, and the smaller Galaxy S23 could start at $800.
