Hope Axel Laurance leaves B&B Hotels for Alpecin-Deceuninck

The young French Axel Laurance, 21, is leaving the B&B Hôtels cycling team, whose existence is threatened, and will wear the colors of Alpecin-Deceuninck, during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, announced his new team on his Facebook account.

“I am extremely proud of this change”, reacted Laurance, convinced of being able to “develop even more” in the Dutch team, to “progress step by step and reach the best level. It will undoubtedly be a great story, ”added the young rookie of Mathieu van der Poel’s team. Originally from Morbihan, Laurance finished 2nd in the Bretagne Classic last August, behind Wout van Aert.

Alpecin-Deceuninck will first make him race in the reserve team and hopes to integrate him into the World Tour by 2024. For B&B Hotels, this new start, after those of Victor Koretzky at Bora-Hansgrohe, and Italian sprinter Luca Mozzato at Arkéa-Samsic, by Cyril Barthe at Burgos-BH, is a new episode in the exodus. Manager Jérôme Pineau had announced to his riders that they were free to find a new formation, having failed to find a major sponsor for next season.
