A tragic accident took place yesterday on Apple Derby Street in the Boston suburb of Hingham where a car slammed into the store window, killing one person.
Just before 11 a.m. local time, a black SUV crashed at high speed into the glass facade of the Apple Store, before ending up against the wall at the back of the store. Local media reported that one person died and at least 19 were taken by ambulance to area hospitals, with four of the victims in critical condition.
Local police and firefighters said the driver of the vehicle was in custody and an investigation was underway to determine if it was an intentional act or an accident.
Apple released the following statement:
“We are devastated by the shocking events that took place today at Apple Derby Street and the tragic loss of a professional who was on hand to renovate the store. Our hearts go out to our team members and customers who were injured and all affected by this horrific accident. We have proven everything we can to support our team members and customers during this difficult time. »
Apple announces that the Derby Street store is closed until further notice.
