Apple wants to ditch Dark Sky for Weather, but it’s not that easy

Apple has just published a new support document (in English) in which we can discover some tips for switching from Dark Sky to Weather. The first of these apps was a relatively popular weather client on iOS, which would eventually be acquired by Apple before shutting down. The service will be deactivated within two weeks. As for the second, it is the native solution of Cupertino with more or less the same value proposition and automatically installed on iPhone and iPad now.

The problem is that not everyone really appreciates the maneuver. Indeed, many Dark Sky users continue to regret certain features that are not available with Weather. This is particularly the case of the complication for Apple Watch with weather conditions and temperature. Others also believe that sometimes Apple is wrong and does not provide the right information in real time…

Pretty much everything you need to stay alert

Despite everything, Weather remains a fairly effective solution to keep track of the weather or what it will be outside. With the application, you can for example obtain estimates for the next ten days, which can greatly help you to know how to pack your suitcase before leaving on a trip. Several key data are included, such as humidity, atmospheric pressure and wind speed.

With this, on iPhone, weather can be tracked for multiple cities at once and with dedicated animations depending on the color of the sky or precipitation. From the settings, it is also possible to request to receive notifications in the event of heavy rain in order to equip yourself accordingly.

Other free applications to discover

If Weather does not suit you, you can also turn to Weather Carrot which is a free application and which has the advantage of having a client for connected watches. With, as a bonus, compatibility Live Activities so you don’t miss the weather from your dynamic island on iPhone 14 Pro and on iPhone 14 Pro Max.
