In addition to Mac Pros, iMacs, MacBook Pros and other redesigned Mac minis, Apple is working on several new external displays, including an updated version of the top-of-the-line Pro Display XDR that launched alongside Apple’s PC. modular office in December 2019, according to the latest information shared by the inevitable Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
Several new Apple screens in 2023
In an article summarizing the Mac releases coming next year, the American journalist said that the new monitors will be powered by an AXX chip from Apple, just like the Studio Display which is equipped with an A13 Bionic chip. No other details have leaked, but it is noted that the new Mac Pro is further along in development than the Pro Display XDR 2 that is expected to come with it.
If the top of the range will be refreshed after four years of good and loyal service, it seems unlikely that Apple will already modify the Studio Display which has not even celebrated its first candle yet. However, in October, Ross Young, a consultant in the display industry, said that Apple plans to launch a new monitor with a 27-inch mini-LED display in the first quarter of 2023. Based on these specifications, it is possible that this monitor is a new Studio Display with ProMotion 120 Hz technology. This rumor had already been mentioned a few months before.
Presented at the same time as the Mac Studio in March, the Studio Display is available from 1749 euros. It features a 27-inch display with 5K resolution and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The more premium Pro Display XDR starts at $5,499 and comes with a 32-inch screen with 6K resolution, but it doesn’t have a camera for video conferencing.
