Board of directors recognizes Pichai’s “strong performance” as CEO, company says, adding that earning a significant portion of compensation depends on Alphabet’s total shareholder return relative to other companies of the S&P 100.
Alphabet said the at bonus is changing to increase performance-linked share units (PSUs) 60%, from 43% in 2019, while expanding the performance requirement for payout.
Pichai, who receives an equity bonus every three years, received two tranches of PSUs with a target value of $63 million each.
The CEO also received an $84 million grant in the form of restricted stock units from Alphabet.
