At Samsung, eyes are on the Galaxy S23s that the brand will present in 2023. Today, a new source claims to have a more precise launch date and information on their prices.
After the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 presented in the summer of 2022, Samsung’s next big mobile event will be the presentation of the Galaxy S23. The brand organized an in-person event for the occasion, a first since the Covid-19 pandemic.
An American event and a price increase
Samsung’s last “physical” presentation was that of the Galaxy S20 in February 2020, in San Francisco. A Korean media says that the world number one in smartphones will once again choose the American city to present its next flagships. An event which, according to a Samsung Electronics executive close to the subject, would take place in early February 2023.
No more precise date for the moment, but other sources evoke the first week of February. This would correspond within days of the launch of the Galaxy S22, which took place on February 9, 2022. Last year’s Unpacked event was virtual as health restrictions did not allow events of this magnitude to be held.
The Korean media recalls that the price of the Galaxy S23 will probably be higher than those of the Galaxy S22 because of the inflationary pressure which will bring many Tech giants to increase the prices of their products. As a reminder, the launch price of the Galaxy S22 was 859 euros, that of the S22 + of 1059 euros and that of the S22 Ultra of 1259 euros.
The Galaxy S23 against the iPhone 14
Samsung remains by far the world number one in smartphones by volume, thanks in particular to its entry-level and mid-range products such as the Galaxy A13, Galaxy 33 and Galaxy A53. But the S range, as qualitative as it is, does not sell as well as the iPhones. Indeed, a Counterpoint study revealing that in the first quarter of 2022, around 62% of smartphones over 400 euros were sold by Apple, compared to only 16% by Samsung.
A trend that the Korean brand intends to reverse by installing the package on its Galaxy S23, but also by playing the innovation card with its Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. More than ever, Samsung is convinced that the future of smartphones will be flexible. A segment on which Apple is, for the moment, absent.
The Galaxy S23s are expected, among other things, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip from Qualcomm, a satellite connection, a new camera block and a design that should not shake up the codes too much. Only a few more weeks to wait before the official presentation of the Galaxy S23. Until then, new indiscretions should reach us.
