As the Tesla Semi begins to roll off the shackles, the electric truck has just shown what it’s capable of when it comes to range.
After cars, Elon Musk’s firm is tackling the road freight segment with the Tesla Semi. A truck that intends to revolutionize a sector which, despite the slow electrification, still remains traditional. While the first copies are coming off the assembly lines, the Semi communicates for the first time its autonomy in the real world.
This was announced by the boss of the brand on Twitter, of which he is also the head recently. According to him, a copy of nearly 37 tons could travel 500 miles (804 km) on a single charge. Exactly what the technical sheet of the Semi promises in its final and top-of-the-range version.

Megachargers to refuel Tesla Semi quickly
As the company and some specialists in the sector across the Atlantic have pointed out, this autonomy would be more than enough since the drivers would be forced to take a break before even reaching the end of the battery. But this will of course depend on the type of journey made and the charge rate at the start.
Between two connections, the Tesla Semi could be recharged on the brand’s new Superchargers, called Megacharger. They can regain 70% of the battery in just 30 minutes with their power of one megawatt! it remains to know the development plan planned by the American brand: because if there is no doubt that they will be deployed around the highways, stations could prove useful in the middle of logistics centers to allow trucks to refuel while loading the trailer.
